Think about a time when you were happy. No, I mean a time where you were truly the happiest in life. Was it that time when you took your first solo vacation? Maybe it was the birth of your children or maybe it was the time when you decided to remove the labels that everyone gave you and live your life the way that you wanted to. Whatever that moment was, can you remember recently when you felt just as happy about life? If you can continue to hold on to those moments. If we are not careful they can slip away from us. If you can’t, it is time for you to figure out how to get to happy. Why? We are not meant to live for the sake of paying bills, running errands, reading and responding to emails at all times of the day/night and just exist. We are supposed to experience happiness. If we weren’t why do we have that emotion? We don’t have a problem experiencing, fear, sadness, etc. So why should we hold back from experiencing true happiness? We shouldn’t! Today as you are doing a little soul-searching, ask yourself the following questions:
What truly makes me happy?
Does my home environment promote happiness (decor, colors, positive affirmations, etc.)?
Is my life balanced in regards to work and a life outside of work?
The things that I talk about the most, do they bring happiness into my life?
Are there people around me that contribute to my happiness?
What can I get rid of that does not make me happy (clutter, clothes, unhealthy habits, etc)?
What can I do more of within my control to make me happy (travel, have lunch with friends, find a hobby, learn a new skill, explore new things with family or friends)?
Do I add positivity to other people’s lives?
Do I give off positive vibes when others are around?
Ask family and friends for feedback, they may or may not tell you what you want to hear but may help you find your way to happiness.
Remember Sis, you are AMAZING and doing AMAZING things. Happiness is the key to TRULY living.
Who is She?
I am a Wife, Mom, Daughter, Full Time Employee, Friend and Change Agent that has been succeeding, failing and winging it for years. Although I am not perfect, I do know that God has been guiding my path along the way in each journey. No matter how good or bad my experiences may be or have been, I know they serve a purpose. What is that purpose? To show you that you are not taking this journey called life alone.
Over the years I have met phenomenal women with stories that you would not believe unless you heard them yourself. I created the SheSpeakz platform as a way to “Speak Life” into ourselves and those around us. SheSpeakz is a way to tell our stories and encourage women to embrace their journeys. At times it may be uncomfortable but there is someone who needs to hear your truth. I love meeting other people, listening to others about their life experiences, making connections and helping others make connections. When women collaborate with and support other women, amazing things happen.
Some of my passions are leadership/personal development, empowering women to be themselves, mentoring, public speaking, baking, traveling, writing my blog and spending time with my family and friends.
I currently reside in the San Antonio, Texas area with my spouse and our two active children.
My call to action for you as a reader is to embrace who you are and know that you are enough. We all can use a little improvement in some areas of our lives but don’t let that stop you from loving yourself and being the best you. I also ask that you take the time to encourage and support one another. In this delicate time, we can all use positivity in our lives. I also ask that you are intentional about making a positive impact in the lives of those around you and in your local communities. Use your talents that you have been given to change the world one good deed at a time.
